Arthur Isiko is a Ugandan accountant, bank executive, business leader, and entrepreneur. 

He is the current Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bank of Africa in Uganda.

Early Life and Education

Arthur Isiko was born in 1977 in Mulago Hospital in Kampala, Uganda’s Central Region. 

As of 2015, Arthur Isiko is the father of two children.

After finishing primary and secondary school education, he pursued higher education at Makerere University, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com, Accounting) degree in 1999.

From 2000 to 2002, he held the status of Fellow of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) of the United Kingdom.

From 2007 to 2010, Arthur earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom.

He is a member of the Uganda Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Directors in the United Kingdom.

He also serves on the board of the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) as a member.

Career and Professional Work Experience

Arthur Isiko

Arthur Isiko has over 20 years of expertise in the financial services industry, the majority of which he gained at the Bank of Africa. 

Prior to joining the Bank of Africa, Isiko worked as a Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Pwc) from June 1999 to February 2003. He was involved in and managed numerous assurance, business advisory, and risk management engagements in a variety of industries.

He then joined the Bank of Africa – Uganda and worked as the Internal Audit Manager from February 2003 to January 2004.

From February 2004 to April 2010, he was Head of Finance and then Assistant General Manager in charge of the bank’s back office operations. 

From April 2010 until October 2015, he was appointed as Executive Director of Back of Africa.

Arthur Isiko was later appointed Managing Director in October 2015, after acting in that capacity since 2014. He took over from Ronald Marambii, who was transferred to the Kenyan subsidiary.

Achievements and Awards

Arthur Isiko joined the Institute of Directors (MIoD) in July 2017.

As of December 2011, he is an ICPAU Certified Public Accountant.

He has also been a Fellow of the ACCA (FCCA) since January 2008 and an ACCA Member since January 2003.

Arthur Isiko launched the BOA Pay service, a payment solution that allows customers of the bank to pay for goods and services at partner merchant locations during his regime.

The Bank extended its digital service with BOA Pay in response to the Covid-19 epidemic. Customers benefit from this service since it ensures their safety, eliminates the need for them to carry cash, provides convenience, and is absolutely free of charge.

For the merchant, the service decreases the cost of holding cash, eliminates transactional charges, and eliminates reconciliation hassles by providing unambiguous responsibility for transactional activities.

According to the CEO East Africa Magazine research, Managing Director Arthur Isiko is one of the highest-paid bank CEOs receiving Shs105 million per month in Uganda.
