The China Railway 17th Bureau Group Company has vowed to cooperate with a local company in the construction of Kampala-Jinja Express high way.
In a meeting with the Chinese delegation in Lwakitura on Saturday President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni appreciated their idea of cooperating with a local construction company in the construction of the highly built Kampala-Jinja express high way proposed.
He says, it will save the country from losing huge sums of money to external to external contractors.
“I am glad you are proposing a joint venture with a local government company. We don’t want any more too much money from going out because of using only foreign companies,” president Museveni noticed.
In addition, Museveni issued a directive to the minister of finance Matia Kasaija and the concerned agencies to forge a way forward on the matter. However, he observed that having a joint venture with a state owned company will be a just choice.
The African development chairman for the China railway 17th Bureau group company limited Mr. Ping stated that they have decided to partner with a local contraction company to ensure that the Kampala express high way is successfully completed if at all the deal is given to them.
Vision 2040 and the national development planning consists of five road projects to be constructed to enhance economic development in Uganda and the Kampala – Jinja express high way is one of them.
