President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged to establish industrial zones in each sub-county across the country. Museveni while passing out 9000 graduates from Sseninde Foundation at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in Wakiso district on Saturday said that, these industrial zones will help Ugandans get training and support in useful skills as well as creating more jobs for Ugandans.
In the same way, Museveni appealed to all Ugandans and Africa in particular to adopt value addition ways to their products like shoe making, furniture making, sewing sweaters, milk processing as well as commercial agriculture.
Stating that this will save the country from donating value to foreign markets and also reducing on the importation the country does on such products and increases exports market in the country.
He further said that Africa is a rich country, the shirts and the shoes we wear can be made in Uganda, “If we start producing them here, we will save a lot of money that we donate to foreign markets,” Museveni stated.
Besides, president Museveni honoured Hon. Sseninde for the good initiative of empowering Ugandans and committed a fund of 500m shillings to Sseninde Foundation to compose a revolving fund to the organisation at 1% interest monthly.
He also accorded selection of equipment to Sseninde foundation
9000 individuals trained in various skills collected certificates in catering, tailoring, paper bag making, hairdressing, piggery, bakery, hotel hospitality, charcoal making using garbage and many more.
