Police Blocks Bobi Wine’s Concert At Busabala One Love Beach

Uganda Police force was forced to throw teargas cans and pour coloured water to Bobi wine supporters who had gathered at Busabala One love beach on Boxing Day to attend Bobi wine’s annual show Busabala Ye Sseboo.

It all started with dozens of policemen armed surrounding the place heavy water cans deploying at the venue during midday a few hours to the main event. This came after another show which was cancelled in Ggaba where the musician turned politician was among the artistes to perform.

This forced Bobi wine and his firebase crew members to confront Police trucks and officers to get an explanation for blocking his shows yet Parliament issued an order not to block his shows again.

Parliament last week discussed about blocking Bobi wine’s music shows and it was regarded unlawful because any person in Uganda has a right to do his work without obstruction from the men in uniform.

Police through its spokesperson Emillian Kayima said that Bobi wine unlike other singers like Bebe cool did not provide authroisation letters he had obtained from the Inspector General of police Martin Okoth Ochola. This forced Bobi wine to post pictures of the letters that cleared him to hold a concert on social media.

“Up to now, we have not been give any official reason as to why the show was blocked, because we wrote to police long ago and complied with all legal requirements” the Kyarenga singer said posted.
