Following Abenakyo’s win in the miss world 2018 Beauty contest, Ugandans who were present at the miss world China in Sanya City were filled up with joy and excitement when Uganda’s Abenakyo was being crowned as miss world Africa.
According to government this is a great opportunity for Uganda to boost its tourism industry through Abenakyo as the face of the country in the world market.
Chairman Uganda tourism Board Daudi Migereko says, “Quiin Abenakyo has done us proud, she put up an excellent show.
As a country we are going to benefit a lot as a result of publicity Uganda has got as a result of her excellent performance
After, Migereko congratulated Abenakyo upon her success on the recently concluded miss world contest which ended in China on Saturday. He said that it’s an opportunity for Uganda, and further noted that her success will place a positive impact on Uganda as Quiin Abenakyo takes up the role of Tourism Ambassador on behalf of Uganda.
“The image of the country has been put on a different level and what we have to do is to position ourselves such that our tourism benefits”, Migereko observed.
Similarly, Rebecca Kadaga Uganda’s speaker of parliament congratulated Abenakyo upon her success in the just ended Beauty contest and vowed to extend her support to her Teenage pregnancy project.
“I am excited about her teenage pregnancies and early marriages project. I want to pledge my support to Quiin Abenakyo when she returns that I will support her to boost that campaign because it’s one of the vital sustainable development goals”, Kadaga said.
Likewise, former miss world contestant and 2011 miss Uganda Sylvia Namutebi noted that Uganda should utilise Abenakyo’s achievement.
“It’s a very big opportunity for us, we have been put on at the front, we are in front of the world literally for all the right reasons because beauty for purpose and for a good right cause, everything that other countries pay for millions of dollars we got through this one thing.
The world is looking at us because we made it big being at the world stage”, Namutebi stated.
As a coordinator Miss Uganda project Namutebi says to reach this level of success they had to work hard.
However, Quiin Abenakyo will be back in the country in about a week and prior to her return, the team in Uganda is preparing the Beauty queens reception.
“Abenakyo is still in China for another six days, she is going to a coronation dinner with miss world which plus all the other continental winners. Then from there they will have a tour of China, then they will be meeting the international press then she will travel back to Uganda. After which we plan to have a press conference and then partners dinner then her charity work. she has a lot of charity work lined up already for her”, Namutebi explained.
