Deaths in Uganda are not yet to stop soon, after the fire that killed tens of students at Manya Secondary school in Rakai, to motor accident in Busika and to the deadly Lake Victoria boat crash, another man identified as Daniel Ogwang who died in Bombo near Bombo Military barracks whom the UPDF has disowned as not one of them.
The army has revealed that Ogwang who was killed in Mbuya is not a soldier of the National army. The man who was believed to be a soldier was only practicing his Basket ball skills with the UPDF team in Bombo. Brig. Richard Karemire clarified that Daniel Ogwang was not a soldier, following yesterdays statement made by the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire who had said that Ogwang was a soldier and a basket ball player who belonged to the army Basket ball team.
However, Col. Akiiki said UPDF sports team mourns together with his family during this regrettable death of this young talent.
“It’s sad on how his future has been cut short in a senseless shooting,” Akiiki told the media.
According to investigation officers the suspect demanded money from the deceased and it’s confirmed that this guard ran away with this money.
Akiiki stated that, UPDF will stand together with family in burial preparations. He also said police investigations are ongoing and surely the criminal will be charged in courts of law and find justice to family.
