Eight new confirmed cases of Coronavirus disease COVID-19 in Uganda – Authorities
In Uganda, eight new cases of the latest COVID-19 coronavirus disease were confirmed by Uganda authorities late Monday.
The new figures at a press conference in the capital, Kampala, were revealed by the Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng.
In less than three days in Uganda, this increases the total number of cases with Coronavirus to 9. After 35 samples checked on Monday, the new cases were found.
“All eight cases are Ugandan nationals who travelled back from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates – two on March 20 and six on March 22,” she said.
Aceng said that to date 2,661 travellers, including Ugandans, have either self-quarantined or institutional quarantine defined as potential threats.
She encouraged the public to keep the social gap of four meters (13 feet).
The minister now calls on all those who have visited the United Arab Emirates in the last two weeks and have themselves checked.
Uganda had not tested Dubai travellers before and said that they were not a country at great risk.

According to the estimates collected by the Johns Hopkins University in the USA, the overall death rate is over 16,000, with many reported cases approaching 372,000.
In Wuhan, China last December, the virus, officially known as COVID-19, spread to at least 167 countries and regions worldwide.
