In recent weeks, Uganda as a country has registered more community cases in Kampala than it has done in any other district.

As a result, the health ministry calls upon everyone to get involved in the fight against the pandemic.

“In light of the spike in new cases in Kampala Metropolitan Area, this is evident that the rate of community transmission is high,” a statement from the Ministry read.

“The public is STRONGLY advised to take personal responsibility to avoid contracting COVID-19. The earlier we change our attitude and behavior towards COVID-19, the better for our health and nation.”

Meanwhile, this comes at a time when the 2021 General Election campaigns are also set to kick start on Monday.

The Electoral Commission has since urged all presidential candidates to mainly conduct virtual campaigns to avoid crowds which might create even favourable grounds for the spread of coronavirus.

While addressing journalists earlier this week, Fred Enanga the police spokesperson raised worries that political rallies as witnessed on the presidential nominations attract large gatherings.

He cited that such actions might culminate into the further spread of the COVID-19.
