The National Unity Platform (NUP) party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has urged his party councillors for Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to work closely with the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago because he is also holding the same goals like them.
The just-concluded Lord Councillors elections saw Kyagulanyi’s NUP party attain 41 seats out of the required 45 positions.
With this in mind, a big section of Ugandans continues to raise questions of how the newly elected Lord Mayor will work with such a large group from only one party.
However, while meeting all NUP affiliated councillors at his Magere home on Friday, Kyagulanyi called on his charges to work with Lukwago because he is also a regime change seeker.
“I have heard and also read some stories that Lukwago will face challenges working with you but I want to tell you that besides his party, Lukwago is one of us and we are both working to see an end to the dictatorship regime,” Kyagulanyi urged.
Also, he begged them to remain focused on NUP’s goals and not allow them to be intimidated and influenced by those in the ruling NRM party.

Kyagulanyi told his charges that President Museveni has over the years utilised the opportunity of giving out money and other benefits to influence decisions.
But he reminded them to emulate him and not allow to take any bribes because it will still backfire for them in return.
“The regime is going to give you money. You must have heard Museveni saying that he is going to finish our group. He is going to give you a Ministerial position and if you refuse, they will intimidate and arrest you, but please comrades, do not disappoint the people who voted you into power,” the NUP leader said.
“We have a duty as a generation and you are the commanders. People chose you because they saw hope in you. I want all of you to be Kyagulanyis wherever you are,” he added.
Meanwhile, this comes at a time when he through his lawyers have expressed their intentions to the Supreme Court of appealing against Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s victory in the January 14th polls.
The Electoral Commission earlier this week reaffirmed that President Museveni got 6,042898 votes representing 58.38% while NUP’s Kyagulanyi got 3631437 votes representing 35.08%.
