Minister Judith Nabakooba has called upon all youths in Uganda to concentrate on things that help them instead of talking about Bobi Wine’s car.

The ICT minister, Hon Judith Nabakooba has called upon all youths in Uganda to concentrate on things that help them to transform their lives instead of talking about Bobi Wine’s car.

Nabakooba made the remarks on Sunday during her weekly address to the nation. She said that many youths waste a lot of time talking about other people’s success instead of utilizing the opportunity to work towards achieving the same.

The ICT minister, in particular, cited two stories including the US Navy ship and Bobi Wine’s armoured car that have been making rounds on different social media platforms for the past one week.

“Whereas there is nothing wrong with discussing politics, this should not take a lot of our time. I call upon the general public especially youth that this is the time to focus on work and income generation,” Nabakooba urged.

“There is a lot of work to be done. For individuals that have a purpose and vision of living a quality life, they cannot be seen spending time promoting fake news like emeeri, emotoka (The U.S Navy Shop and Bobi Wine’s car).”

Also, she advised that they should also utilize this time to revamp and cover up the losses they incurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic

Nabakooba said that a large percentage of youths were hit by the pandemic. She said that many were laid off from Jobs because companies could no longer sustain them.

“Given the challenges that were presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, we all have an obligation to work a lot harder in order to recover lost time,” she added.

Meanwhile, she revealed that the government has strengthened its plans to improve on service delivery to make it possible for all citizens to get access to cheap social needs.

“I would like to re-echo the government’s commitment to improving service delivery for the wana-inchi. There are on-going efforts to secure budgets to create Government Service Centres in Post Offices, where our citizens shall obtain services conveniently, cheaply, and quickly. This is mainly because government already has Post Office buildings across the entire country,” Nabakooba revealed.

“What has been lacking was connectivity. With the implementation of this System and connecting many #PostUganda Offices, I want to invite public agencies to tap into this government infrastructure to improve on their service delivery. The System has been tested and found to be secure.”
