The Tangi Gate, one of the entrances to Murchison Falls National Park, is just 5 km from Mama Washindi Lodge, so you can leave for a game drive very early in the morning or late in the evening.
While staying at Mama Washindi lodge, most evenings are spent around a campfire reviewing the day’s events and discussing how many of the “Big five” animals have been spotted.
Numerous activities can be booked through the Lodge, including excursions to the landing sites, the Emin Pasha Fort in Wadelei, and the Alur Cultural Museum in Panyamur, among others.
Mama Washindi Lodge is affiliated with the non-profit organisation “Nobody to Somebody,” which assists children and women from disadvantaged backgrounds.
All of the Lodge’s profits are used to directly support orphaned and financially disadvantaged students in Primary School. Additionally, the lodge provides space for women in the community to sell their handcraft work.

Guests at Mama Washindi lodge stay in bandas. The rooms are either economy double, deluxe twin or family suite balcony rooms.
All the bandas are self-contained and made of natural materials from the surrounding area, such as wood and grass, and feature private balconies.

Activities at Mama Washindi Lodge
The Lodge is a one-stop shop for booking a wide variety of tours and activities, such as visits to the landing sites, the Emin Pasha Fort in Wadelei, and the Alur Cultural Museum in Panyamur.
The major activities booked at the lodge are the game drives, nature walks, boat cruises, fishing and hiking.
Fishing on the Nile is both a sport and a recreational activity. A rod and reel are all you need to go fishing. The prime time for fishing is evening hours.
Nature walks: By taking a walk in the surrounding areas of the lodge, you get to see many wild animals without having to go on a game drive. Animals like antelopes, buffaloes, monkeys and elephants can be seen from a distance away.
Boat cruise: A boat cruise to the bottom of the falls provides a magnificent view of the renowned Murchison falls. While on the boat cruise, you will see several animals and birds.
How to get to Mama Washindi Lodge
It is a 6-hour drive from Kampala to Mama Washindi lodge, a distance of about 374km. The lodge is located in Packwach, with the Tangi Gate being 5km away from the lodge.
To get to Mama Washindi lodge, take the Kampala-Gulu highway via Luweero and Bweyale up to Karuma. At Karuma village, turn left to continue driving along the Kampala-Gulu highway and pass via the Karuma bridge.
A few kilometres from the bridge, turn left onto the Karuma-Pakwach-Arua road. After a distance of 50km, continue onto the Gulu-Arua road for 44km. The Gulu-Arua road passes through Purungo and Lolim.
After 44km on the Gulu-Arua road, you will see the lodge’s signpost on the right with a murram road that leads you straight to Mama Washindi lodge.
By air, it takes about 1 hour from Entebbe to the lodge. You can take a flight from Entebbe to Pakuba airfield in Murchison falls National Park. From there, drive to Mama Washindi lodge 22 miles from the airfield.

At Mama Washindi Lodge Pakwach you can check in from 3 pm up to 10 pm on your day of arrival and check out between 6 am and 12 pm on your day of departure.
