You will see elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, and other primates besides chimpanzees, such as velvet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and many more during game drives in the morning or afternoon.

Birding

Over 451 species of birds have been recorded in Murchison Falls National Park, with 50 species being endemic to the area.

These birds include the Goliath heron, Blue-headed coucal, Pied giant Kingfisher, Black-headed gonolek, African quail finch, African jacana, Black-billed barbet, Swamp flycatcher, Grey crowned crane, and speckled fronted weaver, among many others.

Boat cruise to the waterfall

In addition to game drives and bird watching, visitors can take a launch boat excursion to the world’s most powerful waterfalls and observe wildlife at the showers, including hippos, crocodiles, and water birds close to their boat.

Once you have reached the falls, you can trek to the top for spectacular views of Murchison Falls National Park.

Fishing

Another popular sport on the river Nile is fishing. The Nile River is home to numerous species, including the Nile perch which weighs between 40 and 70 kilogrammes. Among the other species of fish found here are tilapia, electric fish, lungfish, yellow fish (barbel), and catfish.

Guests can partake in fishing competitions with other anglers. Whether you have previous fishing expertise or have never picked up a fishing rod before, Global Village Tours can organise a fantastic fishing excursion for you.

The Guest House can provide some basic fishing equipment, although it’s not always high-end professional gear.

Community visits

Mubako is a small, isolated village in the sunny northwest of Uganda, right next to the vast grassland of Murchison Falls National Park.

The village consists of a cluster of traditional thatched mud homes arranged around a central clearing, where locals congregate to escape the midday sun under the shade of a huge tree.

The locals here grow cotton and cassava, which they use to manufacture bread flour and gin (called waragi) respectively.

Mubako features a small craft shop where community members sell carved wooden sculptures and handwoven handicrafts. At nightfall, the Alur perform lively songs and dances around the campfire, accompanied by the lovely sound of the adungu.

This region-specific instrument is composed of cowhide and rope, and the harmonies of the adungus of varying sizes against the backdrop of a Nile sunset are beautiful.
