Leila Kalanzi, better known as Kachapizo, is a Ugandan comedian, actress, hairstylist, radio and television host, Event Mc, and Brand Influencer.
Kachapizo is best known in Ugandan media for various radio and television programmes and as a brand influencer for Movit Products Limited.
Early Life and Education

Leila Kalanzi was born in a drugstore in Nakivubo Mews, Masaka district, central Uganda, on December 5, 1979.
Kalanzi was born to Hajjat Hamida Nalwoga and the late Hajj Abdul Kalanzi. She has three sisters and a deceased brother as siblings.
Her mother raised her and her siblings after her father left the family when she was still at a young age.
Her father, Hajj Abdul Kalanzi, died on October 23, 2018, of unexplained causes. On October 24, 2018, his remains were buried in Nkoowe village, Wakiso district.
She finished her primary education at St. Anne’s Preparatory in Kabowa. Kalanzi then enrolled at Pride Academy and Nakivubo Settlement to complete her secondary education.
However, she dropped out of school and began her career in drama and performing. She joined the Bakayimbira theatre actors with the intention of fulfilling this goal.
Leila Kalanzi is a mother to her children and is not married.
Career and Professional Work Experience

She met Charles Senkubuge, a Bakayimbira theatre actor who helped her improve her acting skills.
She was given the opportunity to travel to the Netherlands for theatre work with John Segawa and members of the Bakayimbira group. She did, however, return to Uganda in the middle of the tour.
She got a position as a presenter at Radio Simba in Bukoto after her return. She transferred to CBS Radio after a few months and worked there for six months.
However, she opted to return to the Netherlands in order to pursue a longer career. During her time in Europe, she worked odd jobs and began hairstyling. Unfortunately, she was arrested and jailed for overstaying in the Netherlands before being deported back to Uganda.
She was offered a job at Bukedde FM after returning to Uganda.
She got a new role on Sanyuka television in May 2019, but she later quit due to issues with the administration.
Achievements and Awards

She has been performing in theatre, theatrical plays, and comedy for almost a decade. She is an award-winning television host who is well-known for her ‘loud-mouthed’ personality.
Leila Kalanzi has been in TV shows such as Sanyu (2021) on Pearl Magic Prime and Emboozi Zabagalana (2008) on Bukedde TV 1.
She appears in the film ‘Kigenya Agenya’ as one of the actresses. ‘Kigenya Agenya’ is a miniseries created by Phillip Luswata and Bakayimbira theatre performers that tells the story of a decaying nation. It was released in the late 1990s but rose to prominence in the early 2000s.
Kachapizo is a prominent comedian and actress in Ugandan entertainment, best known for dramatising Ugandan music videos such as Sheebah’s newest Kansalewo.
Controversies

Kachapizo admitted during a live television broadcast that she regrets burning her melanin skin in order to have lighter skin.
She warned ladies not to bleach since it is not only costly to maintain, but also causes them to lose their identity, which they would regret in the future.
