Early Life and Education

Prince Kassim Nakibinge was born in Uganda’s Central Region in 1966.
His father is Badru Kakungulu (born April 20, 1907; died April 24, 1991) who is a paternal Uncle to Muwenda Mutebi II, the current Buganda monarch (since 1993). Prince Kassim is also the late Prince Nuuhu Kyabasinga Mbogo’s grandson.
He received his primary education at Kabojja Preparatory School and Savio Junior School.
He then went to St. Mary’s College Kisubi for his O-Levels and Kibuli Secondary School for his A-Levels.

Career and Professional Work Experience

Prince Kassim Nakibinge had always aspired to be a banker since he was a child.

He then joined Tropical Bank as an interim managing director and later as an executive managing director before retiring in 2013.

Spiritual leader
As the titular head of Uganda’s Muslim community, Prince Kassim Nakibinge has established a slew of educational institutions atop Kibuli Hill, ranging from a nursery school to a university.
Muslims in Uganda assert that Kakungulu’s ancestry would have comprised Buganda’s rulers, but the lineage was tampered with because his grandfather, Prince Nuuhu Kyabasinga Mbogo, refused to abandon Islam in order to become a Kabaka.
Prince Mbogo was the unchallenged leader of Muslims until 1911. Upon his death, his son Prince Badru Wassajja Kakungulu replaced him, and numerous groups of Muslims in Uganda developed at the same time.
After his father died in 1991, Prince Kassim Nakibinge was named the successor of the post at the age of 24.
Achievements and Awards

Prince Kassim Nakibinge is an acknowledged member of Buganda’s Royal Family and a very successful businessman.
The ability to maintain his late father’s perspective on Buganda and Uganda issues is Prince Kassim’s greatest achievement. This is accompanied by the achievement of a single centre of power for the various Muslim groups, with the exception of just one.
Controversies
Prince Kassim Nakibinge questioned security forces for targeting Muslims for arrest whenever there are terrorist attacks, citing Gen Katumba Wamala‘s recent unsuccessful assassination.
He made the remarks during Eid Adha prayers at his Kibuli house, further cautioning the administration and MPs who believe the Mailo land system is to blame for the frequent land evictions.
