Scroll to “Settings” and press the “OK” button.

Select “Parental Control” from the list of options and enter your PIN when prompted. If you haven’t set a PIN, you will need to do so before proceeding.

2. Choosing the Parental Control Level:

DSTV offers various predefined age-based rating levels (PG, 13, 16, 18) to filter content. Choose the appropriate level based on your child’s age and your comfort level.

The levels correspond to content that is deemed suitable for viewers of that particular age group.

3. Locking Channels:

After selecting a parental control level, you can choose to lock specific channels that you want to restrict access to.

Scroll through the list of available channels and select the ones you want to lock. Confirm your selection by pressing the “OK” button.

4. Setting Content Restrictions:

In addition to locking specific channels, you can also restrict access to certain types of content based on themes such as violence, language, and adult content.

Navigate to the “Content Restrictions” section and customize the settings according to your preferences.

5. Locking Unrated Content:

Unrated content refers to content that hasn’t been assigned a specific age-based rating.

Decide whether you want to allow or block access to unrated content. This step ensures that your parental controls cover all potential content scenarios.

6. Confirming and Saving Settings:

Review your selected parental control settings to ensure they align with your intentions.

Once you’re satisfied, select the “Save” or “Confirm” option to apply your settings.

7. Exiting the Parental Control Menu:

Use the remote to navigate back to the main menu.

Your parental control settings are now active and will remain in effect until you choose to modify or disable them.

8. Modifying or Disabling Parental Controls:

If you need to adjust your settings in the future, follow the same steps to access the Parental Control menu.

You can change the parental control level, unlock channels, or modify content restrictions using your PIN.

As your child grows, their viewing preferences and sensitivities may change. Periodically review your settings and make necessary adjustments.

Ensure that your parental control PIN is known only to you. This prevents unauthorized changes to your settings.

Talk to your children about the importance of responsible TV viewing. Help them understand the reasons behind the restrictions and educate them about media literacy.

Setting up parental controls on DSTV is a vital step in ensuring a safe and enriching television experience for children.

By following these steps and staying proactive in managing your child’s content consumption, you can create a balanced media environment that aligns with your family’s values and priorities.
