This partnership aims to extend insurance access to low-income households and safeguard families from unforeseen circumstances.

Prudential Uganda takes pride in partnering with Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda Limited (AMCUL) to introduce this crucial product to the Ugandan market. This collaboration is designed to expand customer reach and provide essential financial protection.

Turaco highlighted the significance of such partnerships in ensuring access to affordable insurance for vulnerable communities.

Many Ugandans are currently outside the reach of traditional insurance, yet they are the most susceptible to financial setbacks caused by illness, accidents, and death.

Collaborations like these are crucial in granting underserved Ugandans access to affordable insurance, offering a safety net during their times of need, and ultimately providing peace of mind. This helps in promoting mass market insurance adoption in Uganda.

How Airtel Hospital Sente works

Hospital Sente offers a cash payout for inpatient hospitalisation at any accredited hospital, covering up to 10 nights in a policy year.

Additionally, it provides a funeral benefit for the member in case of natural or accidental death. This benefit is payable to the member’s nominated Next of Kin.

Insurance

Hospital Sente is accessible to all Airtel Money customers.

Despite being the fastest-growing insurance sector in Uganda, health insurance uptake remains shockingly low, at less than 1% according to the Insurance Regulatory Authority’s August 2022 report on the National Health Insurance Scheme.

This revelation underscores the urgent necessity to broaden insurance availability across both formal and informal sectors.

Airtel Hospital Sente aims to grant Ugandans access to superior healthcare services, especially considering the 1% inclusion solely from the formal sector.
