Controversies

Timpf claimed to have received death threats in November 2015 after making satirical comments regarding the Star Wars fandom.

An unidentified man attacked Kat Timpf in July 2017. Her friend Ben Kissel had organised a campaign event at Brooklyn’s Union Pool, where she was scheduled to speak.

Kissel was a candidate at the time for Brooklyn Borough President in New York. Just as she was about to give her address, an unidentified man walked by and threw a bottle of water at her.

National Review retracted Timpf’s column in public on December 27, 2018.

According to National Review, the article “left out relevant details” of a Title IX case involving sexual harassment of University of Missouri students.

According to Timpf’s story, a female student had complained about unwelcome advances because the person making the claims was bigger than she was.

But as per National Review, the accused harasser “had made repeated, unwelcome advances towards the female student and was found in violation of Title IX for stalking her,” according to a deposition taken during the case.

When Kat joked about Jimmy Kimmel’s decision to take a break and spend time with his family in June 2020, she offended a lot of people.

She implied that taking care of her cat was more difficult than taking care of Jimmy’s child when she said, “It’s a lot harder to hold down a cat than a kid.”

The comment received a lot of backlash. Jimmy answered back, reminding her that a cardiac condition had been identified in his child.

Timpf expressed regret to Kimmel and all Americans. She claimed she didn’t know the child had a cardiac ailment and had made a lighthearted remark.
