Early Life and Education

Anthony Kituuka was born in Uganda in 1975 and is the father of three children.
Kituuka received his primary school education in Uganda and his secondary education at King’s College, Buddo from 1989 to 1995.
He enrolled at Makerere University on a government scholarship in 1995 and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Applied Economics after specializing in Statistical Computing.
From 2011 to 2013, he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Oil and Gas from Middlesex University in the United Kingdom.
Anthony has also participated in a number of executive management programmes, including the Harvard Business School’s Board of Directors Programme on Governance, Strategy, and Leadership and the Harvard Manage Mentor.
He also finished the Advanced Management Programme at Strathmore Business School, as well as the Senior Management Leadership Development Programme and the Effective Director Programme at Lagos and IESE (Spain) Business Schools.
Anthony also completed Executive Management Development Programmes at INSEAD in Paris, France, and the Gordon Institute of Business Science at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
Career and Professional Work Experience

Anthony Kituka previously worked for LafargeHolcim-owned Hima Cement in Uganda, first as a Sales Manager and subsequently as a Customer Services Manager.
He worked as a Customer Services Manager at Hima Cement Limited from July 2006 to February 2007.
However, Anthony had auditing expertise prior to that, having worked as an Audit Senior at Deloitte & Touche, one of the Big Four audit firms.
His banking career began as a corporate relations manager at Barclays Bank Uganda (now Absa Bank Uganda Limited).
From March 2007 to August 2008, he was the head of Business Banking at Barclays Bank Uganda Limited.
He was employed by KCB Bank Uganda Limited after leaving Barclays, where he worked for six years, rising to the post of head of corporate banking from October 2008 to February 2014.
He was sent to the bank’s global headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, where he spent the next nine months. From February to October 2014, he was the Head of Global Corporates at Kenya Commercial Bank.
In 2014, he was hired as the group executive director of Equity Bank Group, where he was in charge of regional operations in five African Great Lakes countries.
From October 2014 to June 2016, he was the Executive Director at Equity Bank Limited in Nairobi, Kenya.
From June 2016 to December 2022, he was the executive director of Equity Bank Uganda Limited, which was led by his predecessor Samuel Kirubi as CEO, a Kenyan national.
Kituuka succeeded Samuel Kirubi as CEO of Equity Bank Uganda, who held the job from 2015 until 2022. Kirubi was named Group COO for the group’s existing six banking companies and relocated to the group’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.
Kituuka was then appointed CEO of Equity Bank Uganda, and he has held the position since November 2022.
Achievements and Awards

Anthony Kituuka is a dedicated, ambitious, resourceful, and courteous individual who is enthusiastic about achievement and guiding others to reach their full potential.
Additionally, he is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
Anthony has over 15 years of senior banking experience in Uganda and the region, having worked with some of Africa’s top brands.
Kituuka is the first Ugandan to be appointed CEO of Equity Bank Uganda.
On June 10, 1998, Anthony Kituuka’s undergraduate dissertation “A computerised information system for the Processing of service charges in commercial building management, 1998 Makerere University” was published.
Away from banking, while still a student and President of Makerere University Budonians’ Club (MBC), Anthony and other Budonians established the Makerere University Budonians’ Scholarship Fund, which sought to cover tuition fees for academically gifted but financially challenged students.
He has since been connected with a number of charities and non-profit organisations, including Sanyu Babies Home, the Association of Surgeons of Uganda, and Watoto Church Christian Hall.
He was the Patron and Chairman of the AIESEC MUBS Chapter’s Board of Advisors from January 2011 until October 2019. AIESEC is an international youth-led, non-profit organisation that provides young people with leadership training, cross-cultural internships, and global volunteer exchange opportunities.
From November 2019 to the present, Anthony has served as the Chairman of AIESEC Uganda’s Board of Advisors.
Anthony is also a member of the board of directors of The Innovation Village, a Ugandan launchpad for leading innovators and entrepreneurs that are establishing an entire ecosystem of entrepreneurs and innovators in what is growing to become a business solutions provider for Uganda’s most pressing challenges and opportunities.
