Ministry of health has rubbished claims of contracting Bad Black for an advert on sensitizing prostitutes about coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health has rubbished claims of contracting Shanita Namuyimbwa, alias Bad Black for an advert she spearheaded on sensitizing prostitutes about the deadly coronavirus.

A few weeks back, following increasing new COVID-19 cases especially among the truck drivers, the government came up with different strategies to help educate Ugandans about the dangers of the virus.

Among these, was calling on influential persons to better help pass on the message and Bad Black was not left out.

For weeks now an advert has been running on television stations featuring her dressed in a black, passing on advise to prostitutes to back off the truck drivers who have been an epitome of Uganda’s new cases.

However, the socialite through her lawyers Musangala Advocates and Solicitors recently came out to accuse the Ministry of using, deceiving and tricking her into recording an advert for the government without paying her as earlier agreed.

The confessed prostitute who also threatened to sue the Ministry stressed that on top of paying her Ugx. 500 million, the MOH also promised to take her to meet President Museveni and since then nothing has been done.

She says that she was informed that the advert would be used by the government of Uganda to sensitize the masses of which she would be paid upon completion.

However, on June 14, the MOH issued a statement clarifying that socialite, Bad Black was not contracted but rather she consented to record the video voluntarily like many other companies and organizations that came out to support the Ministry in the fight against the coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Health, following the call by H.E the President to the general public to donate or provide free services towards the prevention of COVID-19, several companies came out to support the ministry of health with some offering many items while others supporting in terms of the services they offer.

The Ministry stresses that various key personalities including Bad Black were requested to voluntarily participate, and they consented before any recording was made.

“It is therefore against this background that Precision Communications Consulting Limited came out and donated Media Production Services to the Ministry of Health under the close supervision of the Ministry of Health. All content and messaging were cleared by the Ministry of Health,” MOH said.

“Additionally, Precision Communications Consulting Limited approached various key personalities who voluntarily recorded messages as a way of giving back to their country in this COVID-19 fight, among whom was Bad Black. All these individuals were requested to voluntarily participate, and they consented before any recording was made,” the MOH added.

As a result, the Ministry says the mouth watered socialite is not liable to any payment and the messages sent out by her tantamount to blackmail since no contractual papers were signed with the government.

“The Ministry would like to reiterate that this was done on solely voluntary terms and no contractual or financial obligations were attached to any of the personalities including Bad Black.

Bad Black, in particular, consented to record a message that was appealing to her colleagues who were at risk of contracting COVID-19, and would thus spread it to other members of the community,” a statement from the MOH added.
