Bobi Wine has described the incumbent Yoweri Museveni as a coward in response to the EC’s decision to suspend campaigns in 12 districts.

Following the Electoral Commission’s decision to suspend campaigns in certain districts, the National Unity Platform party presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has described the incumbent Yoweri Museveni as a coward in response to the action.

On Saturday, the Commission through its spokesperson Paul Bukenya announced the suspension of physical political campaigns in Wakiso, Kampala and 10 other districts.

Bukenya said that this was done due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the above districts coupled with a high level of laxity towards the health operating guidelines aimed at controlling the further spread of the virus.

Following the news, many Ugandans including NUP’s Bobi Wine have since come out to claim that the ruling NRM party is scared of pressure from those in the opposition.

Bobi Wine who described the incumbent as a coward noted that government’s decision is not about the ongoing pandemic but to frustrate his campaigns because of the massive support he has in most of the above-listed districts.

In addition to Wakiso and Kampala, districts including Mbarara, Kabarole, Luwero, Kasese, Masaka, Kabarole, Jinja, Kalungu, Kazo and Tororo were also part of those were physical campaigns have been suspended.

On this, Kyagulanyi noted that the ruling party has been surprised and scared to the teeth by the massive support they have received everywhere, including Museveni’s backyard in Kiruhura and Kazo.

As a result, the NUP boss explained that they blocked them because they could not imagine what would happen in districts including Kampala, Wakiso and Masaka where they have tremendous support.

“What a coward Gen. Museveni is! Initially, they said we didn’t have support upcountry. They have been surprised and scared to the teeth by the massive support we have received everywhere, including Museveni’s backyard in Kiruhura and Kazo. They have done everything possible to block us, but people have still showed up,” Kyagulanyi said.

“They have beaten the people, but the people have stood their ground. Now, they have suspended campaigns in districts where they think people will show up in tens of thousands! Of course they had to add some other districts in order to sanitise their panicky actions. In real sense, Museveni is so scared. He can’t imagine what would happen if we stepped foot in Kampala, Wakiso and Masaka! He has done everything to block our visit to Jinja and I am not surprised it has been suspended too!.”

This comes at a time when Bobi Wine is set to hold his campaigns today in districts of Lwengo, Bukomansimbi and Mpigi

On Saturday, he campaigned in districts of Lyantonde, Rakai and Kyotera where he begged his supporters to remain focused on ending NRM’s 35-year military rule.

Bobi Wine was yet again in running battles with the police.

In Kyotera, where he was supposed to hold his final day’s rally, the police blocked his access into the area town where his campaigns were scheduled to take place.
