Like us, you were most likely shocked to find that there’s no CAPS LOCK on the Chromebook keyboard, right? The keyboard design of Chromebooks is distinctive. For instance, unlike on Windows PCs or Macs, all the letters are lowercase.
Google substituted the Everything or Search button, which is placed on the left, for the CAPS LOCK key, which is typically found there. So how do you turn on CAPS LOCK on Chromebook? We’ll show you how.
Turn on capital letters on the Chromebook

Press Alt + Everything or the search button to turn on CAPS LOCK.
On more recent Chromebooks, the Everything/search key is denoted by a rounded circle, while older Chromebooks use a search icon. Press the same keyboard sequence once more to switch off CAPS LOCK.
Additionally, you may change some particular keys in the settings to CAPS LOCK keys. For instance, go to Settings > Device > Keyboard to make the Everything button a CAPS LOCK key. After that, choose from the Alt, Ctrl, Escape, Backspace, or Everything/Search buttons, respectively. Activate CAPS LOCK.
Alternatively, you may just hit and hold the Shift key to capitalize the characters in a sentence.
Conclusion
That’s basically how you turn on CAPS on a Chromebook. The capital letters are activated by pressing the Search key while holding down the Alt key. When it’s on, an icon with an up arrow and a line beneath it will show up in the notification area on the bottom right of the screen. Caps lock can be disabled by pressing the Shift key or those two keys once more.
