Senkubuge decided to try a shot at politics in 2001 for fun. He’d become a household name at the time because of his thrilling theatre performances.

He intended to demonstrate to individuals, particularly entertainers, that it is possible to pick presidential nomination papers without getting attacked or detained.

Fortunately, he was nominated, but Senkubuge wound up on the president’s radar and was persuaded to drop out of the race.

His campaigns concluded with a meeting with the President at State House Entebbe, who advised him to run for parliamentary office in his Bukuto South constituency and promised to show him a favour which went unrealized.

Senkubuge ran alongside ten other candidates for the LC5 Chairperson position of Kampala during the 2021 General Elections. He stood on the Democratic Party (DP) ticket.

However, Senkubuge lost the elections as Lukwago Erias of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) emerged as the overall winner and the Lord Mayor.
