In September 2021, Hon. Christine Apolot made the people of Kumi happy by fulfilling her long-awaited promise to buy them an ambulance that would be used to transport patients.

She began with one ambulance but said she intended to purchase more because one was insufficient for the entire District.

In November 2021, she became a board member of Malaria Partners Uganda, representing the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Malaria (UPFM).

ActionAid Uganda (A global movement of people working together to advance human rights and end poverty once and for all) presented her with the 2018 National Integrity Award.

She has spearheaded follow-up on cases involving corrupt Kumi leaders who misappropriated funds, and such funds have been refunded to the district coffers.

Hon. Apolot Christine is the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Public Service and Local Government.

Controversies

In 2021, Monica Amoding asked for a recount of votes.

According to her lawyers, led by Richard Anguria Omongole of Omongole and Company Advocates, her agents were chased away from some polling stations and denied declaration forms, denying her victory.

However, Monica Amono, the Chief Magistrate in Soroti, rejected Amoding’s application because it lacked facts and evidence.

Amono stated in her ruling that the available documents, including declaration forms and tally sheets, showed no change in the two contestants’ results.

When contacted following the ruling, Amoding stated that she would file a petition with the High Court.
