Controversies

Christine Nabukeera failed to persuade the High Court in March 2023 to ignore evidence provided by police witnesses alleging that she broke into her tenant’s shop and stole products and money.

Nabukeera appeared at Buganda Road Court with her son, Vincent Mawanda, on charges of breaking into (the complainant) John Kabanda’s Nana Centre shop and taking 43 bags of shoes worth USh350 million, USh172 million in cash, and all of his company paperwork.

John Kabanda, the Chairman of the Kampala Traders Body and the Kampala New Generation Traders Association, and his team accused Nabukeera of maliciously and unlawfully removing the door to his shop on July 28, 2020, and stealing money, merchandise, and legal documents for failing to pay rent arrears that had accumulated during the Covid lockdown.

In her defence, Nabukeera and her son accused Kabanda of organising fellow tenants to refuse to pay rent during the COVID-19 shutdown in 2020.

Christine Nabukeera was remanded to Kitalya Prison on October 22, 2021, until November 2nd.

Christine Nabukeera was supposedly in a relationship with Livingstone Luwaga, a father of four and Florence Nalubega’s spouse, in November 2010.

It all started in August 2010, when Nabukeera intended to elope with fellow businessman Livingstone Luwaga.

The two had planned a discreet wedding, but Florence Nalubega, Luwaga’s wife and mother of his four children, discovered it and read them the riot act. Luwaga and Nalubega had gotten married in a traditional ceremony.

As a result, they abandoned the arrangement and pursued open dialogue. Nabukeera and Luwaga promised Nalubega a car, a house, and a business in exchange for allowing them to marry.

Their wedding thus took place in front of retired bishop Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo in Namirembe Cathedral, followed by a celebration at Entebbe’s Botanical Gardens.
