After a stint away and time spent sharpening his edge across borders, seasoned marketer Colin Asiimwe is back where it all began—MultiChoice Uganda.
Asiimwe has rejoined the pay-TV giant as Head of Marketing, stepping once again into a familiar but fast-changing media landscape, where he will now oversee flagship brands DStv, GOtv, Showmax, and Pearl Magic.
Many in Uganda’s media and advertising circles will remember Asiimwe’s earlier stint at MultiChoice, particularly during the tough COVID-19 period, where he led key launches such as Pearl Magic Prime and pushed local content front and centre.
“Businesses must move at the same speed as their consumers,” he said. “The voraciousness with which the consumer cycles through media is alarming. The time to adapt and hasten is upon us.”
Before joining MultiChoice in 2019, Asiimwe built his name in Uganda’s advertising industry, rising through strategy roles and eventually becoming known for delivering high-impact marketing campaigns across East Africa. His track record spans sectors and borders—from growing brands to transforming entire agencies.
He returns from a recent spell in Kigali, Rwanda, bringing with him fresh experience and what he describes as a “renewed sense of urgency.”
A Mass Communication graduate with certification in digital analytics and Reforge Growth Strategy, Asiimwe is known for fusing creative instinct with data-driven insight. His style, say colleagues, is both analytical and adaptable—key traits in a market that’s increasingly fluid.
“Growth is part of the journey of any exciting career,” he said. “I’m excited to be back at such a pivotal time for the TV industry.”
With the television and entertainment space facing mounting pressure—from piracy, content overload, and changing viewer habits—MultiChoice will be counting on his steady hand and industry insight.
Asiimwe’s return marks a significant moment not just for the broadcaster, but for the broader marketing community—proof that sometimes, the way forward begins with a return home.
