In January 1997, Debra Bollman joined the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA).
Since January 2001, she has worked as a stenographer at Caption CART, Inc. She became CEO of CaptionCART, a startup providing real-time transcribing and captioning services.
She has captioned events such as the French Open, the NBA Finals, and the World Series. She has also worked as a court reporter, CART provider, and television captioner.
In January 2001, she was the Realtime Captioner at Captionmax, a Media Production business 3Play Media purchased in early 2022 and renamed 3Play Media in September of the same year.
Her knowledge of sports has presented her with some of the most memorable experiences, including attending all seven 2016 World Series games.
From 2015 to 2016, she was a member of the California Court Reporters Association (Cal-CCRA) Board of Directors for District D. She later worked as a vice president for Cal-CCRA from October 2016 until August 2018.
In February 2017, she was selected as a guest speaker at a workshop on emerging trends and job opportunities in court reporting at Humphreys University.
Debra Bollman’s Rise to Fame
On a typical press conference in 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for Debra, where the players of the Wisconsin Badgers appeared before the press and talked about the game, Debra became famous overnight.
Nigel Hayes, a sophomore forward for the club, made a sweet remark about Debra during the press conference to one of his teammates in private, assuming the microphone was off. Nigel uttered: “God, she’s beautiful.”
Unfortunately for him, the microphone was turned on and Debra along with the other reporters in the room could plainly hear what Nigel said.
The world was eager to see the face of the person Nigel had described as beautiful when the video went viral, making Debra gain popularity overnight.
Following the incident, she appeared as a guest on several well-known morning news programs and other programs, discussing the circumstances of what transpired.
Nigel later tweeted Debra to apologise making her Twitter following increase from around 15 to over 900 followers.
Debra said she thought the whole thing was humorous and friendly and that Nigel was really courteous.
People still remember Debra as the stunning then-43-year-old mother of three who stunned then-20-year-old basketball player Nigel Hayes.
