Career and Professional Work Experience

Over the course of her career that spans over 23 years, Eng. Christine Mugimba has acquired substantial technical and regulatory knowledge in the following fields: radio frequency spectrum management, developing and monitoring quality of service standards, conducting compliance assessments and investigations, supporting innovation, research & development, and formulating corporate strategy, among others.
Eng. Mugimba is currently the Director of ICT and Research at UCC, a strategic leadership role. In this role, she is responsible for digitalization, cybersecurity, and Research & Development (R&D).
Prior to this role, she held several senior positions at UCC, as the Head of Spectrum Management, Engineering & Postal Services, and also the Head of Strategy & Research.

Achievements and Awards
Christine Mugimba received the Women in Leadership Scholarship Award associated with Rochester Institute of Technology – Saunders College of Business in January 2021.
Her work has significantly shaped Uganda’s competitive telecommunications sector in different areas as mentioned below;
Christine was instrumental in creating a responsive regulatory framework by designing and implementing harmonized band plans for wireless access spectrum management and establishing standards for mobile voice telephony quality of service.
Beyond regulation, she promoted innovation by conceiving and developing the Annual Communications Innovation Award scheme (ACIA), which ran for seven years to promote new ICT solutions/innovations in Uganda.
Her influence also extended to judging, as she served on the Ugandan and African adjudication panels for the DSTv Eutelsat awards for secondary school students.
Christine has also been a crucial member of the Ugandan, East African, and African delegations, playing a key role in negotiating regional positions on the use of radio frequency spectrum for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT), satellite regulatory matters, and orbital positions during the UN specialized World Radio Communications Conference.
