Early Life and Education
Evelyn Kemizinga was born in Ibanda to Mr. Katuramu, who died when she was five years old. Her mother was unable to care for them, so her aunt, Ms Pelagia Kyenda, picked her up and transferred her to Masaka for studies.
She grew up with mostly boy cousins and describes how her lack of self-esteem evolved over those years because she did not think she was pretty.
Evelyn is a humble born again Christian. Compassion International supported both her secondary and university education after her aunt brought her to Masaka for education purposes.
Evelyn Kemizinga completed both her O’level and A’level secondary education at Masaka Secondary School.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Makerere University’s School of Liberal and Performing Arts.
She had wanted to study French, but it was offered to her at Kyambogo University, and drama was offered to her at Makerere University, the only prominent university at the time, so she chose to go for Drama.
Evelyn loved acting even before she started university because of the cheerful and exciting life she believed it brought people.
Evelyn learned to play the piano at university because every performing arts student was required to learn to play at least one instrument.
Evelyn Kemizinga is a mother and the wife of her long-time love, Mr. Moses Igasira. They met during Evelyn’s senior six vacation and are both from the same village in Ibanda. The two got married after Evelyn graduated from university.
Career and Professional Work Experience
Eve Kemizinga has over 18 years of comic experience and is a part of the weekly comic programme with Fun Factory, which was created in 2010 with the flagship character being sketch comedy.
Her friend and classmate at university, Veronica Namanda, who is also an actress, urged her to join Theatre Factory before it evolved into Fun Factory.
Prior to her major part in Popi, Evelyn Kemizinga was known for playing supporting roles that did not place her in the spotlight but regardless people loved her characters, notably Mulokole in Mizigo Express.
Her character in Popi highlights some of her attributes as the Officer in Charge at Lampaka station, such as being hardworking, caring, strong-willed, understanding, and a mother.

Evelyn Kemizinga’s most recent films include Mizigo Express (2018), Girl from Mparo (2019), and Popi (2023).
Popi was nominated for Best Original Comedy Series for the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards in Nigeria in 2023.
