Henry Ariganyira Musasizi is a politician, certified public accountant, and business executive from Uganda.
He represents NRM, the country’s dominant political party, and was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Rubanda County East.
Early Life and Education
On February 25, 1981, Henry Ariganyira Musasizi was born into a Catholic Bakiga family in Rubanda, Kabale District. He wedded Jane Francis Kyomuhendo in 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, Rushorooza.
He received his primary education in his native Kabale area, where he also earned his PLE certification in 1994.
After that, he went to Kigezi College Butobere for his O-Level studies, where he received his UCE certification in 1998, and for his A-Level studies, where he received his UACE certification in 2000.
Musasizi went on to Makerere University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce in 2005.
In 2009, he attained certification as a certified public accountant after pursuing a postgraduate course at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
Musasizi graduated with a Master of Business Administration in 2012 from Edinburgh, Scotland’s public Heriot-Watt University.
Career and Professional Work Experience
Henry Musasizi worked as an accountant for Caritas-Kabale Diocese, the social services and development division of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabale, for a year after receiving his bachelor’s degree in 2005.
He began working as an accountant for the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) in 2007 and continued doing so until 2010 when he decided to enter the electoral political process.
Henry Musasizi ran for the Rubanda County East parliamentary seat in 2011 on the NRM platform; he was successful in winning the party’s primary and the general elections, and he was elected to the 9th Parliament of Uganda where he was a member of the Public Accounts Committee.
In the 10th Parliament of the Republic of Uganda, Musasizi was re-elected in 2016 and is still representing Rubanda County East.
He served as the chairperson of the Committee on Finance, Planning, and Economic Development in the 10th Ugandan Parliament and is a member of the Business Committee.
Achievements and Awards
H.E. Yoweri Museveni appointed Musasizi as the State Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development in the responsibility of General Duties on June 8, 2021.
Henry Musasizi was able to address the issues of electricity, hospital beds, hospital electricity, inaccessible roads, and completed churches which the previous Member of Parliament had failed to solve.
