Kyangabi Crater Resort draws its name from the neighbouring crater Lake Ngabi, which is recognized as an antelope habitat within Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Kazinga channel. 

The resort is a natural sanctuary to discover and explore, situated in the Western rift valley near Kichwamba, off the Mbarara-Kasese route. It is about 10 kilometres from the Kyambura Gorge, where chimpanzees can be tracked, and 52 kilometres from Kasese Town.

Activities at Kyangabi Crater Resort

Most activities at Kyangabi Crater Resort are within Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is the most visited national park in Uganda. It covers a distance of 1,978 sq km and is home to a vast array of wildlife. 

Activities within the park include a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, nature walks, game drives, children’s games and bird watching. Games drives are the most popular activity which allows you to see several animal species in their natural habitat. 

Other activities include visiting the crafts store, fruit picking in the garden and chimpanzee trekking. 

You can request to go chimpanzee trekking in the Kyambura gorge. This activity is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, which also gives chimpanzee permits.

How to get to Kyangabi Crater Resort 

Kyangabi Crater Resort is 373 kilometres (7 hours and 5 minutes) from the city centre of Kampala.

To get there, you use the Kampala-Masaka Road, Mbarara-Masaka road and Mbarara-Kasese road. Once you are in Kasese town, it is a 52-minute drive to the hotel and a 55-minute drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park.
