The Kidepo Valley National Park is located in the northeast of Uganda, close to Kenya and Sudan, and there are quite a number of lodges nearby.

Located in Uganda’s northeast, near the Kenyan and Sudanese borders, Kidepo Valley National Park has a number of lodges nearby that I cannot wait to share with you.

For such a long distance, the park is the least popular park and attraction in Uganda. It’s quite far from Kampala, the country’s capital, and other locations. You might want to consider a lodge close to the park or fly by air to save you some time.

The wildlife of Kidepo is diverse and includes, among other things, buffalo, elephants, antelopes, giraffes, bush pigs, cheetahs, leopards, and ostriches.

We have listed below some of the best lodges for accommodation around Kidepo Valley National Park that we can recommend.

Apoka Safari Lodge

Apoka Safari Lodge

The main luxury lodging facility in the park is this one, which is also one of the oldest. The lodge has a view of Narus Valley, thus occasionally visitors can see animals like elephants feeding there.

For accommodation, there are 10 spacious suites, which include a family area, all constructed using wood and materials created by regional artisans. You can unwind in the park’s swimming pool that was hewn out of a sizable rock or maybe go for a game drive instead.

Apoka Rest Camp

The Uganda Wildlife Authority is in charge of the low-cost Apoka Rest Camp. It is located inside Kidepo Valley National Park, in the center to be exact.

It has 14 non-self-contained bandas with shared restrooms outside, and 16 self-contained bandas with ensuite bathrooms.

The camp is perfect for travelers on a tight budget. There are no meals or drinks available at the camp, meaning visitors are recommended to bring enough food and drink for the duration of their stay.

Kidepo Savannah Lodge

Kidepo Savannah Lodge

Just a few meters from Kalukodo gate is the Kidepo Savannah Lodge. It is quite close to the park. In a tented camp, this lodging option offers both self-contained safari tents with ensuite facilities and non-self-contained tents for lazy campers.

There are shared bathrooms outdoors. Due to it’s features, it accommodates both low-cost and middle-class travelers. The lodge also looks out over the park, providing stunning views of the horizon, especially the hills that start the park, and stunning sunsets.

In the plains below the resort, animals frequently congregate close to the lodge to feed.

The restaurant has a set/fixed menu but is accommodating if you have any dietary needs. Not to mention a bar serving a variety of beverages, from beers to spirits.

Adere Safari Lodge

Adere Safari Lodge

One of the newest lodges in Kidepo Valley National Park is Adere Safari Lodge. It accommodates visitors who want to stay in either luxury or upscale rooms. There are 20 independent cottages at the property, each of which is well furnished.

Buffalo Base

The Buffalo Base is the ideal place to stay for those who want to combine their wildlife experience with local culture. It is situated in Karenga, a small town 8 kilometers from the Kidepo Valley National Park’s main gate.

The Buffalo Base provides lodging for both low-cost and middle-class customers.

They provide camping as well as single and double accommodations. There is access to electricity, Wi-Fi, DSTV, and flushing toilets. There are a variety of culturally focused activities available, from village visits to all-day mountain climbs.

Conclusion

When compared to the other significant parks in UgandaKidepo Valley National Park has fewer lodging alternatives. In the future, however, we hope that more people and businesses will invest in cabins, campgrounds, and hotels as the number of visitors to the area increases.

Although guests are always given lodging in the park, it is recommended that one book a room before traveling for a safari to minimize any hassles. As we’ve stated in this article, there are budget, Mid-Range, and Luxury lodges.

Every lodge we’ve mentioned is unique. One similarity however is that they allow visitors to marvel at the magnificent terrain that distinguishes the park. All of these lodges are thoughtfully positioned inside it. We hope you enjoy your stay there.
