Lukia Isanga Nakadama occasionally spelt as Rukia instead of Lukia, is a politician, educator, and businesswoman from Uganda.
She became Uganda’s Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio on June 9, 2021. She has previously served in the Ugandan Cabinet as State Minister for Gender and Culture.
Early Life and Education
Lukia Isanga Nakadama, also known as Rukia Isanga Nakadama was born on February 2nd, 1970. She is the sixth of her mother’s twelve children to be born, and she grew up in a polygamous family. Her father had two other spouses.
Rukia Nakadama is an adherent of Islam since Hajji Daudi Isanga, her husband is a Muslim.
She went to Nabisunsa Girls School, a public middle and high school, which is situated in the Nakawa Division of North Eastern Kampala, the country’s capital.
Before 1999, she received a Certificate in Teaching from the Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo (ITEK), which is now a part of Kyambogo University, one of Uganda’s eight state universities, as of February 2015.
She also has a diploma in customs clearing and forwarding that she earned in 2000. In 2004, she graduated with a degree in education from the Islamic University of Uganda (IUIU).
She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from IUIU.
Career and Professional Work Experience
Lukia Isanga Nakadama is an entrepreneur, educator, and politician from Uganda. From 9 June 2021, she has served as Uganda’s Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Without Portfolio.
She is a member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political group.
Before 2001, she held positions as a teacher at the Hassantourabi Education Center in Mayuge District and at the same time she was a private businesswoman. She was also chosen to serve as the women’s representative for Mayuge District in the same year.
In 2006, she was re-elected to serve the same constituency and did so. In the same year, she was assigned to her current cabinet position.
She has also previously served in the Ugandan Cabinet as the State Minister for Gender and Culture. She kept her position in the cabinet for both terms when she was appointed on May 27, 2011 and February 16, 2009.
