Mayur Madhvani is a businessman, entrepreneur, and manufacturer of Indian-origin in Uganda.
He is the Joint Managing Director of the Madhvani Group, one of Uganda’s and East Africa’s largest conglomerates headquartered in Kakira, Uganda.
He is also the Madhvani Group of Companies’ International Master of Human Resource and General Management as well as the International Master of International Business and Company Law.
Early Life and Education

Mayur Madhvani was born in Kakira, Uganda on May 14, 1945, making him a Ugandan by birth.
He is the youngest son of the famous Muljibhai Madhvani, the family patriarch who created the Madhvani Group in 1930. Muljibhai Madhvani died on July 11, 1958, in Kakira, and was cremated.
Jayant, Manubhai, Pratap, and Surendra are Mayur’s four older brothers. Jayant, the eldest son died due to a heart attack in 1971 at 49 years while on a business trip to India. Manubhai, the second born, passed away in May 2012 at 81 years leaving his family with the eldest son being Kamlesh Madhvani.
The late Idi Amin 1972 evicted all Asians from Uganda regardless of their citizenship. Mayur Madhvani and other family members had to move to London.
While in London in 1974, he married Mumtaz Askari Madhvani, a former Bollywood actress born on July 31, 1947. Mumtaz has been friends with the Madhvanis since she was ten years old.
Mayur and Mumtaz have two children, Natasha Madhwani and Tanya Madhwani.
Nimisha Madhvani (niece), Malika Askari (sister-in-law), and Fardeen Khan (son-in-law) are among his other relations.
In 2006, Natasha Madhwani married Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan, the son of actor Feroz Khan and the nephew of stars Sanjay Khan and Akbar Khan.
Career and Professional Work Experience

The Madhvanis returned to Uganda and retrieved their assets after Amin was ousted in 1979. The flagship company, Kakira Sugar Limited, was successfully restored in 1985.
Under the direction of the Madhvani family, Kakira Sugar Works (KSW) has grown to become East Africa’s largest producer of refined sugar. KSW produces approximately 165,000 metric tonnes of sugar per year, representing approximately 47 per cent of national output in 2011.
The Group also pioneered the co-generation of energy at Kakira, which presently generates 52 megawatts, 20 megawatts of which are used internally and 32 megawatts are sold to the national grid.
In 2016, an ethanol distillery with a total capacity of 60,000 litres of ethanol per day was also built.
Achievements and Awards

Mayur is also one of Uganda’s wealthiest individuals. He is a member of the Madhavani family, whose net worth is believed to be about one billion dollars.
Mayur and Kamlesh Madhvani are the current Joint Managing Directors of the Madhvani Group, which is one of Africa’s top 10 family business companies.
Controversies
Mayur Madhvani was accused of cheating with another woman in the United States. His wife, on the other hand, indicated that she respected her husband because he had told her about his alleged affair. She eventually forgave him saving their marriage.
