Money is not everything, try to help without expecting a reward – Minister Rosemary Seninde tells youth
State Minister for Primary Education, Rosemary Seninde has called on all youth around the country to engage in volunteering.
While officiating at the 2020 Special Banquet with Rev. Dr Ock Soo Park the founder of International Youth Fellowship held at Kampala Serena Hotel on Wednesday 28th January, Minister Seninde insisted that volunteerism is something Ugandans should consider venturing in.
According to Minister Seninde, most people do not value volunteerism and only do everything to benefit but rather they should engage in offering free services.
“Not so many people take volunteerism very important. Everyone wants to do something for pay but life is not always like that. At times we have to offer our lives, energy and abilities to offer services in a way of volunteering,” Seninde claimed.

She, however, thanks those particular individuals who have taken it upon themselves often to help others even without expecting a reward.
“I honestly want to thank the mere fact that our people are taught that heart of volunteerism. I think it can take the country forward because money is always not there. There are times when money is not there but something has to be done,” Seninde advised the youths.

Seninde made the remarks while South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding with the education ministry to start instilling the ‘education Uganda needs’
The agreement is aimed at incorporating South Korean ‘mind education’ or call it ‘education of the heart’ approach that focuses on reconditioning learner mindsets in the Ugandan school curriculum.
The memorandum of understanding will further intensify bilateral relations between the two countries while focusing on education, improving the health and construction sectors countrywide.

According to Lt Gen. Charles Angina the Deputy Chief Coordinator Operation Wealth Creation, youths should wipe out the tusaba government etuyambe attitude and swap it with mindset education.
“All we are required to do is recondition how we think and perceive situations around us. Solutions that man seeks for his needs can be found within his heart, will and mind. Why wait for Government?” Angina questioned.

Besides Park stated that most people only educate the youth about the problems of taking drugs and playing games forgetting to educate them of other values including explaining to them the structure of people’s minds for that reason lead their hearts.
“It all starts with the heart (man’s actions). It is the heart that feeds the mind (what to dream of). And, in turn, the mind dictates our actions. So, when we have the education of the heart, we control our actions,” Park said.

“We need 10 years (to introduce education of the heart). We need to focus on children in primary schools and students at the secondary level. After that, we will train teachers to carry on (the education).”
