As of today, Uganda has a total of 52 cases after the Ministry of Health on Sunday 5th confirmed four new cases tested positive of the virus.

In a bid to try and mitigate the spread of the virus, the government has put up necessary measures including declaring a 14-day partial lockdown and a 7 pm curfew.

While addressing the public on Friday 3rd – his last conference, President Museveni was optimistic Uganda can handle the dangers of the virus-like it did with Ebola.

Museveni said that the virus, unlike Ebola, spreads through the soft parts of the face alone including the nose, mouth and eyes which makes it easy to avoid if all people adhere to the necessary directives.

He said that because of a section of people take things for granted and do not listen to advice that is why the virus has looked deadly than it would have been.

“I am beginning to be hopeful that we can defeat the virus because from what I have studied there is no big issue apart from the four points of preventing it including cleaning surfaces, not coughing near people, washing hands regularly with soap, water and sanitizer and not touching the soft parts of the eyes, nose and mouth,” Museveni said on his last presser.

“We slept in the bush and those who say that this situation is tough just make me laugh. it is not such a big issue but because people don’t listen and take things for granted. we can defeat it.”

Meanwhile, he will be addressing the public once again on Tuesday 7th about other measures to consider as the numbers of those infected with the virus in the country continue to hyke.
