He adds that he has fought unnecessary eviction of vendors, for instance in Kasubi and Nakulabye markets.
“A market has now been constructed for Kasubi after resisting the eviction. On education, I saved land belonging to KCCA schools under UPE that had been threatened by encroachers, including those using government influences,” Mr Kasibante says.
An acre of land belonging to Namungona, Kigobe Primary School in Lubya had been threatened by encroachers and land grabbers had wanted to demolish Kasubi Family Primary School, all these were rescued by Kasibante.
Kasibante has also helped to mobilize people in self-help programmes, including contributing to Saccos and recently he launched a campaign dubbed: “Rubaga North not for sale.”
According to Kasibante, the people of Rubaga North need a legislator who can speak in Parliament and who cannot be bought. He says people don’t need sacks of money allegedly distributed at times, but rather result. And to him, he’s not scared of that.
Kasibante also engaged himself in improving the sanitation and drainage systems in Kawaala, Kosovo and Masanafu through contributions and communal activities such as bulungi bwansi.
He as well arranged health camps, and proving ambulance services for the people of Rubaga North Constituency.
MP Kasibante once accused Gen Elly Tumwine, the Minister for Security of housing a record of berating parliament. This was during a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline in the hearing investigating Tumwine’s reported disparaging remarks against Parliament and Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
Kasibante said the army general had once insulted the Speaker in an interview with CBS, with recorded evidence to justify his point.
Kasibante also pointed out that Tumwine had once defied instructions by Parliament to vacate the Nommo Gallery, including payment of shs1.3b to the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development in rent arrears.
