Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo was born on March 18th in Gulu, northern Uganda, and raised in Kampala, Uganda’s capital.
He has been happily married to Vernita Kamukama since 2009, and the couple have four beautiful children; Hayil, Hank, Hannela, and Halyn.
He went to Namilyango College for his secondary education and graduated in 1994. He then continued to Makerere University for his bachelor’s degree which he graduated from in 2000.

Pastor Julius is a renowned religious leader who has served as the pastor of Watoto Church for many years. His dynamic sermons and ability to connect with people from all walks of life have made him well-known.
He is also very involved in community outreach and has helped to improve the lives of those who are less fortunate.
Julius accepted Christ as a 10-year-old boy at Kampala Pentecostal Church (KPC) now Watoto Church, when his mother took him to see the evangelistic drama Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames.
Between 2018 and 2022, he was appointed Associate Team Leader for Watoto, a position he held faithfully until becoming Team Leader for Watoto Church Ministries in 2023.
On February 3rd, 2023 Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, an associate pastor, and his wife Vernita Kamukama were commissioned as the new Team Leaders of Watoto Church Ministries at Watoto Church Downtown in Kampala, Uganda.
The couple had been coached and equipped to lead by Gary & Marylin Skinner for the previous ten years.
Pastor Julius and Vernita Rwotlonyo both grew up at Watoto Church, previously known as Kampala Pentecostal Church (KPC), an English-speaking cell-based East African community church based in Kampala, Uganda.
Pastor Gary Skinner and his wife, Marylin, were Canadian missionaries who established the church in 1984.
Pastor Julius and Vernita Rwotlonyo succeeded Pastor Gary and his wife Marylin Skinner, the church’s founders who had led operations for nearly four decades, after being Associate Team leaders for Watoto church for the previous five years.
Pastor Rwotlonyo has been involved with the church for many years and has a thorough understanding of its mission and values. He has a track record of success as a leader and is well-known in the church for his pastoral abilities.
He is regarded as the ideal leader to carry on Pastor Skinner’s legacy and expand the church even further.
Vernita works alongside Pastor Julius and oversees Watoto Neighbourhood, an initiative that restores vulnerable women to a life of dignity so they can care for themselves and their children.
Keep a Girl in School, the program’s preventative arm, works alongside local schools in Uganda and South Sudan to reduce dropout rates by teaching girls their value in Christ, igniting their interest in learning and inspiring them for the future.
When it comes to the role of the church in society today, Julius believes that the local church is the world’s hope. “We must pay attention to the things that break Jesus’ heart in addition to celebrating Him.”We must play an active role in our society to appreciate it,” he says.
As Watoto begins a new section in its history, society is filled with optimism and expectation for the upcoming years. Julius Rwotlonyo introduces new ideas and concepts to the church, and the public is excited to see how he will lead.
