Pumla Nabachwa is a Ugandan economist, banker and Television presenter.
She works as an economist at the Bank of Uganda and possesses great writing, editing, and public relations abilities.
She also co-hosts the popular NTV Uganda program The Bump Love, which focuses on contemporary parenting.
Early Life and Education

Pumla Nabachwa was born in 1985 in Uganda to a middle-class family.
When she was younger, she wanted to be a dancer, she also loved swimming. She aspired to work in a bank as well since bankers appeared sophisticated, she had wanted to join their league.
After her primary education, she went to Kings College Budo for her senior one and then later transferred to Gayaza High School. This was due to her longing to be in a single school hence she deemed Kings College as not right for her.
From 2004 to 2007 she was at Makerere University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree. She was also a guild Council while there.
She received a Chevening scholarship because of her brilliance in studying economics at the University of Manchester in the UK.
She joined the University of Manchester in 2012 and graduated with a Master’s degree in Economics in 2013 with a Distinction.
Pumla Nabachwa got married in 2008 and the couple legally separated in 2011. She is currently a single mother to Trey Gateja who was born on 2nd September 2009.
She had to leave her son, Trey with her parents and his father’s parents when she went to the United Kingdom to pursue her Masters.
Career and Professional Work Experience
Pumla Nabachwa has a track record of working as an expert research analyst in the area of economic policy.
She is interested in Macroeconomic Research, with a focus on Macroeconomic Policy, Econometric Analysis, and Economic Growth.
She joined the Central Bank of Uganda in November 2008 as an Economic Policy Analyst upon finishing her Bachelor’s At Makerere University.
She conducted and obtained quantitative research, reporting and analysis, report writing, data analysis and analytical skills from this role until March 2021.
She was then promoted to the position of Head of Economic Policy Communications when she returned from Manchester where she had gone to do her Masters.
In this role, Pumla is in charge of public relations, Strategic, crisis and corporate communications of the Central Bank of Uganda.
Philanthropy Works

Pumla Nabachwa is driven to have a positive impact on society.
She occasionally volunteers with organisations dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children. One of her favourite sayings is that every child should have at least a meal a day.
She is inspired by stories of great women who left a positive and lasting legacy for years to come.
From January to September 2012, Pumla Nabachwa volunteered with a Group of Friends to provide service to Mothers in prisons.
Also in 2012, while still in Manchester, she donated her eggs. She has since then become a regular egg donor to help individuals who are having difficulty conceiving their own children.
Achievements and Awards
Pumla Nabachwa claims her life’s biggest achievement is her son, Trey Gateja whom she calls ‘Teja’ in the yearly letters she keeps on writing for him with the sole aim of giving them to him after he is of age and has graduated from University.
