Remigio Achia is a Ugandan Economist and Statistician. He is the Member of Parliament for Pian Constituency, Karamoja District ever since 2006 to present under the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Early life and Education
Remigio Achia was born on December 27, 1970, in Nakapiripirit District in the Northern Region of Uganda. He is married to Justice Jane Frances Abodo, Uganda’s Director of Public Prosecutions.
He enrolled at St. Mary’s Seminary Nadiket, Moroto, Uganda where he earned his secondary school diploma. From 1986 to 1990, he studied at Makerere University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Statistics & Applied Economics.
Career and Professional Work Experience

From November 1999 to May 2005, Achia worked as a Technical Consultant at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
From May 2011 to the Present, he is the Deputy Chairman of the Budget Committee at the Parliament of Uganda. From April 2006 to the Present, he is a Member of the Parliament of Uganda where his duties include: Budget analysis, resource allocation evaluation, and goal-oriented budget implementation.
His team also performs budget alignment to government policy targets and anticipated outcomes. From May 2006 to July 2009, he was the Deputy Chairman of the National Economy Committee.
In December 2020, Hon. Achia Remigio, the Pian County Member of Parliament in the Nabilatuk district, joined the growing list of legislators who ran unopposed for re-election.
Jolly Angela Lokutae, the Nabilatuk District Returning Officer, declared Remigio unopposed after his sole opponent, Charles Adome, who was running as an independent, decided to withdraw a few weeks before the general election.
“The Commission received and considered a withdrawal notice from the parliamentary race for the Pian constituency from Charles Adome.”
”As a result, as a returning officer for the Nabilatuk Electoral Commission, and in accordance with Section 19A of the Parliamentary Election Act 2005 (as amended), I declare Achia Remigio a duly elected Member of Parliament for the Pian constituency in the Nabilatuk district, effective January 14, 2021.” The letter read.

He is the Karamoja Parliamentary Group’s Chairperson.
Controversies
In May 2013, Hon. Achia Remigio was arrested for driving while drinking.
