In this post, we discuss whether or not you should search on Google or type the URL in a browser’s Address bar. The two options have been talked about many times on the internet and we’re here to give our side of the story.
To Search on Google or Type a URL”?
Upon opening a new tab in the Chrome browser, “Search Google or type a URL” is what appears by default in the address bar or search box (now named Omnibox). For deciding whether to keep using Chrome, you are presented with two options.
You can either enter what you want into the Omnibox and press Enter to view the search results, or you can enter the URL straight into the Omnibox and press Enter to go to the desired page.
The Customise button is located in the bottom right corner of the new tab window, and the upper right corner of the window. There, you will find Gmail and Images. Additionally, the Google team has devised a theme that appears above the Omnibox on special days (festivals, celebrities’ birthdays, dates of significant historical events, etc.), and clicking on it will take you to the theme’s search results.

Two options: Using the “Search Google or Typing a URL” in Chrome Canary
Canary is a beta, experimental version of the Chrome browser that is only advised for thorough testing. Here, Installation locations and user profiles are not shared between channels. The Canary 36 version hides the full URL into the top-level domain name. When navigating within the site, it only displays the site name.
By selecting the “origin chip” button, which is located on the domain name itself, you may still view the complete URL. Additionally, it’s possible to edit the domain by clicking on it.
The domain-only strategy has two benefits: it makes the web address simpler and makes room for a sub-field to the right that gives users the choice to “Search Google or type a URL.”

Which is better, entering a URL or using Google to search?
Now that we’re down to a conclusion, which one should you choose, input a website address, or conduct a Google search? In some cases, to navigate directly to the desired page, it is preferable to directly type the URL of the target website, such as flashugnews.com, into the Omnibox or the address bar.
But you should rely on the search feature of the browser if you can’t remember the full URL of the page or you just want to look up something online. To do this, enter the keyword (for example, Flashugnews) into the search box and press Enter to have Google search its database and list all the relevant websites. After that, it’s up to you to explore the sites and decide which one you’ll open.
Conclusion

Typing in the URL of the website you wish to visit can be quicker if you already know it. In contrast, if you are unsure of where to go for the information, searching Google can be quicker because it will return several websites that might contain it.
