Adding friends on Snapchat
There’s a multitude of ways that you could go about this such as;
Inputting a Username
By exchanging usernames, users often add each other. By doing so, you can add contacts who aren’t already on your phone. A real name or email address cannot be used to add a user. To find out someone’s username, you’ll need to ask them for it.
Display name and Username are the two names available on Snapchat. Although it can be modified, the display name is not used to add individuals; instead, it is the name that displays initially to other users. The user’s official account name is displayed as their username.
To add a person, you’ll need their Username.
To add them, Check on the Snapchat camera screen, and swipe down anywhere. Your Snap code, username, display name, and score are all displayed.
You can then select “Add Friends.” The Add Friends menu will then appear.
After that, you Select “Add by Username.” The user search will now be available. Put the person’s entire username in the box provided.
Adding by Phone Number
To add someone using their phone number, first add them to your phone’s address book and then proceed as described in the previous part of the article.
The “+Add” button can be found next to the user. In doing so, you’ll add them to your list of friends.
Before you can start exchanging Snaps and talking to one other, the other user may need to add you back which depends entirely on their privacy settings.
Through Snapchat URL
Now that the Snapchat app is available, users of Snap Chat may create links that, when clicked, can open their profile in the app.
Have your friend send you their Snapchat link so that you can tap it and add them. Your friend can send it to you via text or email.
Before doing this, ensure that your phone, already has Snap Chat loaded. After that, you must click the link. Your phone’s browser will open a Snapchat page when you tap the link.
Click “Open Snapchat.” The Snap Chat app will then open. Usually, before it opens, you’re prompted to choose the Snapchat app from a selection of available ones.
Select “Add Friend” on Snapchat. In doing so, you’ll add them to your list of Snapchat friends. To send Snaps or view their Story, Your friend will need to add you back when they receive a notification that you have added them.
To be added by your friends as well, you may share your Snapchat URL found on your profile screen.
Scrolling down on the Snapchat camera screen will bring up the profile screen. You may then Select “Add Friends” and then “Share Username.” You can share this to other messaging apps like Instagram and WhatsApp for your friends to see.

Selecting Contacts from Your Phone
Swipe down somewhere on the Snapchat camera screen. Your Snap code can be seen on the screen of your Snap chat profile once you do this.
If you apply this technique, Snapchat will search the contacts on your phone to identify users whose phone numbers are linked to their Snapchat accounts. Not all Snapchat users have a phone number on file.
For it to work, other users must have activated this option on their individual Snapchat accounts.
Click “My Friends” near the bottom of the screen. A new screen with all of your present Snap Chat friends will open as a result.
Select the “Contacts” tab. This will show a list of contacts on your phone that have a phone number linked to their Snapchat account.
If prompted, grant Snapchat permission to access your device’s contacts. You might be requested by Snap Chat to provide access to your device’s contacts once you open this tab for the very first time. By doing this, Snap Chat will be able to see which of your contacts’ profiles include their phone numbers.
To add people to your friends list, scroll through the list and press “+” or “+Add”. The person you add will receive a notification of your addition and be added to your list of friends. They can then choose to add you back or not.
For friends that aren’t on Snapchat Chat, you can tap the “+Invite” button and they’ll receive a text with a link to the Snap chat app. Their contacts are usually found at the very bottom of your friend’s list.
Adding someone near you
Down, swipe wherever on the Snapchat camera screen. Your Snapcode and the profile information will be displayed.
Hit “Add Friends.” The Add Friends menu will then be shown.
Select “Add Nearby.” While other close devices are being detected, your smartphone will wait.
Give your friend the instructions to access the same screen on their smartphone. Immediately direct your companion to the same “Add Nearby” screen. When you click Add Nearby, their username will show up.
A “+” or “+Add” button will appear next to your friend’s username. They will now be on your list of friends as a result.
