Early Life and Education

On August 11, 1992, Tomi Rae Augustus Lahren was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, in the United States.

Her ancestry is mixed Norwegian and German. Both of Lahren’s parents were from ranching families. 

She is the sole child of Kevin Lahren and Trudy Dietrich; she is the maternal granddaughter of Wayne A. Dietrich and wife Janet “Jan” Rae Eby, and the paternal granddaughter of Wayne Glenn Lahren and wife Elaine M. Bender.

Tomi Lahren was raised on a ranch in Rapid City, South Dakota, and she attended Central High School before graduating in 2010.

She earned a B.A. in political science and broadcast journalism from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Clark County in 2014.

Driven by a love of television and public speaking, Lahren began her media career at a young age. Her foray into the media began with her leadership roles in school.

The Scramble, a political roundtable program at the university, was hosted and associate-produced by Lahren.

Lahren revealed her engagement to boyfriend Brandon Fricke on Instagram in June 2019 and in 2020, it was called off.

Early in 2021, Lahren and fellow Fox broadcaster J.P. Arencibia—a former Major League Baseball catcher—were acquainted.

Lahren announced her engagement to Arencibia on a Justice episode with Judge Jeanine on September 25, 2021. On October 21, 2022, they tied the knot.

Career and Professional Work Experience

2010 marked the beginning of Tomi Lahren’s political career.

As the first intern in Noem’s Rapid City office, she worked for South Dakota Republican Congresswoman Kristi Noem.

Lahren submitted an application for a political commentary internship at One America News Network (OANN). She was offered the chance to be the host of her own program.

She relocated to San Diego, California, and started working for OANN. In August of 2014, On Point with Tomi Lahren made its premiere.

Lahren declared on August 19 that it was her final performance with OANN. In November 2015, she relocated to Texas and started a new show on TheBlaze.

Lahren supported Marco Rubio in the Republican Party’s January 2016 presidential primary.

She made an appearance for a 26-minute interview on Trevor Noah’s The Daily Show on November 30. 

During a guest appearance on The View on March 17, 2017, Lahren stated that she believed women should have the right to an abortion and that it would be hypocritical for her to support both “limited government and government restrictions on abortion.”

Lahren then filed a wrongful termination lawsuit after TheBlaze’s owner, Glenn Beck, who is anti-abortion, chastised her for her remarks and placed her on paid leave. 

She kept her Facebook page but had the videos she had created with TheBlaze taken down as part of the settlement of the lawsuit.

Lahren moved on and started as a communications intern at Great America Alliance in May 2017. She called her position there a “side gig” and announced that she would be going back to commentating on television. 

Tomi Lahren began contributing to various Fox News and Fox Business shows in August 2017 after joining Fox News Channel. 

She was announced as the host of a brand-new OutKick program titled Tomi Lahren Is Fearless in June 2022.

Controversies

Lahren questioned whether California senator Kamala Harris, who was close to Willie Brown, slept her way to the top or fought for ideals in a 2019 article.

Later on, she expressed regret for “her wrong choice of words.”
