How to set up the Wyze cam v3

Before we jump into how to set up the Wyze cam v3, let’s first appreciate how great of an indoor and outdoor camera it is.

The Wyze Cam V3 is the third generation of the company’s series of reasonably priced home security cameras, and like other iterations, it provides a multitude of functionality for its low $35.98 cost.

This updated version adds support for IFTTT, color night vision, intelligent motion detection, a higher frame rate, and more in addition to providing clear 1080p video, free cloud storage, local storage, and compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands.

The fact that it costs less than $40 and is a superior camera for monitoring your home’s interior or exterior makes it simple to recommend for someone looking for budget security cameras.

So, here’s how you can set up the Wyze cam v3 by yourself.

To get started, you must do the following:

  • You must have already set up an account and downloaded the Wyze app which is free of charge.
  • Prepare the place on which to mount the camera. A wall outlet can provide electricity for the camera.
  • Decide on the angle area you want the camera to record. Although this camera doesn’t pan or tilt, it does have a wide-angle lens.
  • To attach the camera, either have a metallic surface available or be prepared with power tools to mount the metallic mount on a wall.

What comes in the Wyze cam v3 box?

Inside the Wyze cam is the camera of course and it comes with a wall mount plate, screw kit, 6 feet of USB cable, wall mount plate tape, and an indoor USB power adapter.

Because the Wyze cam’s base is magnetic, you might not need the installation accessories if you are mounting it on an existing metallic surface like a door or window frame.

If not, you will need to screw the provided metallic surface in a circular form to the wall so that your camera may adhere to it magnetically. It’s simple to set up your camera after it’s attached.

Setting up the Wyze Cam V3

  • Start by turning on the camera after downloading the Wyze app and making an account. The status light will blink red after around 20 seconds.
  • Tap “new device” or the + sign in the top-left corner of the app, then choose “camera” and choose Wyze Cam v3. The Wyze camera needs to be plugged into a power outlet, which you previously finished.
  • You will hear a voice prompt saying “Ready to connect” when you press the “Setup” button on the camera’s base. Accessing this setup button requires pulling the base away from the camera. It’s immediately adjacent to the microSD card slot.
  •  Give the app access to your location. The camera will connect to adjacent WiFi networks that are scanned using this method. Make your choice for the WiFi network you want to join.
  • Make certain that WiFi 4 (802.11 n) on the 2.4GHz band is supported by your WiFi router. Create unique WiFi credentials or SSIDs for each band on a dual-band router if you have one so that you can get connected to the 2.4GHz band.
  • Once that’s accomplished, you go ahead and scan the QR Code until you hear “QR code scanner”. Please keep in mind that sometimes this scanning process fails. A word of advice, don’t give up, attempt as many times as you can until you finally get it. Make sure you have a good WiFi connection, 2.4 GHz WiFi frequency band, WiFi router encryption is set to WPA/WPA2, and ensure that the area it’s positioned is well lit.
