Evelyn Namatovu Kironde from Uganda has scooped the second runner up position at this year’s Miss International Contest held in Japan.
Evelyn Namatovu Kironde a representative from Uganda, finished third behind Mexico’s Andrea Toscano who was named first runner-up at Miss International 2019 event held in Japan.
In a contest that saw Sireethorn Leearamwat walk home with the crown as well as become Thailand’s first-ever winner, Namatovu did not leave empty-handed as she won the award for best in a swimsuit.
Miss International is a Japanese-based international beauty pageant organized by The International Culture Association. The pageant was first held in 1960.
Miss International is the fourth largest pageant in the world, along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Earth this was the 59th Miss International pageant held in Tokyo, Japan.
Mariem Velazco of Venezuela crowned her successor Sireethorn Leearamwat of Thailand by the end of the event. Leearamwat makes history as the first-ever Miss International titleholder from Thailand.
This year’s contest comprised contestants from 83 countries and territories surpassing that of 2018 where only 77 turned out.
However, just as it was in 2018, contestants were still classified under five continents namely; Europe, Oceania, Africa, Americas, and Asia.
Participants competed under different sections including National Costume, Swimwear, and Evening Gown and through this, they were eliminated up to the last eight (8) contestants.
Meanwhile, from the last 8 downwards up to the winner, they were chosen through a quiz task, question and answer basis.
