He belongs to the Buganda tribe and is deeply rooted in the Buganda way of life. He began his early schooling in Kampala where he grew up.

Education Background

After attending Homisdallen Primary School, Andrew Kyamagero switched schools to Kirinya Church of Uganda Primary School in Bweyogerere where he took his primary leaving exam (PLE).

Kyamagero then enrolled in Busoga College Mwiri for his secondary education but he barely stayed for one term before leaving.

Kyamagero returned shortly after receiving his degree in theology, handed his father the documents, and enrolled at Kampala University to study mass communication in which his interests lay.

In 2010, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism.

Family

In May 2019, Linda Ndagire introduced Andrew Kyamagero in a vibrant traditional ceremony at her parents’ Luweero house.

Before getting married, the two lived together for about four years, and according to Kyamagero, they needed to take things slowly and give it some time.

This was followed by their official marriage in a civil ceremony at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau.

Following their son Mandela Enzo Kyamagero, they were fortunate to have a daughter, Zaza Jacklyn Kyamagero who was born in September 2019.

Career and Professional Work Experience

Before joining Radio, Andrew Kyamagero sold juice during his senior six vacations. He would later continue to sell to corporate offices to raise tuition for his Mass Communication degree at Kampala University.

Kyamagero, however, started his Journalism career after he graduated from Kampala University in 2010.

Having failed to land a job in all the media houses in Kampala since they needed experience, Kyamagero landed an opportunity with Best FM (the English station for Radio Buddu) in Masaka where he kickstarted his radio career.

He came back to Kampala in 2011 and worked with Spirit FM before briefly switching to Vision radio.

He, however, still felt something was missing and switched to reading news on Touch F.M, Record T.V and later Urban TV.

In 2015, he applied to NTV Uganda but he was never called. He was instead called in February 2018 for interviews which he passed.

He joined Galaxy FM radio in 2015 as a co-host of the morning show, “Morning Saga; Akasambattuko”. He later bid his goodbyes in 2018 to join NTV.

Kyamagero Leaves NTV Uganda, Returns to Radio with Radio 4

After years as a familiar face on NTV Uganda, Andrew Kyamagero has stepped away from television broadcasting. The journalist and news anchor, widely appreciated for his calm delivery and satirical edge, announced his departure from the station in September 2024.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening, Kyamagero expressed gratitude to NTV and its viewers:

“After years of sharing and anchoring the stories that shaped us as a nation, I am humbled by the unwavering support of you, our great viewers. Thank you for trusting me to bring the news that defined who we are,” he wrote.

His exit marks the end of a chapter that began several years ago at the Kampala Serena Hotel-based station, where he built a following as a trusted voice on national affairs.

But Kyamagero isn’t stepping away from the microphone just yet. In November, he made a return to radio—this time with Radio 4. The station, owned by businessman and presidential envoy Hon. Balaam Barugahara, announced that Kyamagero would be hosting a new season of Omuntu Wawansi Live, a people-centred program aimed at amplifying grassroots voices.

The show, which has previously explored issues affecting ordinary Ugandans, is expected to air from Radio 4’s studios in Ntinda.

Other Career accomplishments

Kyamagero used to commentate on corporate films and serve as the voice promoter for Lesotho E-Visa customer care before going into journalism.

He is the newest and most innovative Mcee (Master of Ceremony) in Uganda, which explains his versatility in organizing many of the country’s upscale events.

Notably, the Ministry of Health has named Andrew the National Family Planning and Male Involvement Champion.

He is a leader of the next generation and a Pan African who is passionate about changing people’s perceptions of the “common man” (omuntu wa wansi).

As the Omuntu Wawansi Initiative’s creator and team leader, Andrew demonstrates strategic insight and offers priceless counsel.

He’s been able to form partnerships with the Ministry of Health and create the well-known #ManCaveUG, a secure forum where men can have candid conversations about issues that impact them.
