This comes after FDC enforcement officers accused Police of laying down plans to disorganise their 15th party anniversary event
Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) planned anniversary scheduled to take place at Namboole Stadium on Monday 16th, December 2019, turned into running battles and dramatic scene as Police and FDC enforcement officers clashed early morning.
This comes after FDC enforcement officers accused Police of laying down plans to disorganise their 15th-anniversary event.
FDC Party observed security guidelines as they planned for the celebration and Police deployed its officers to offer security as required. But FDC as well deployed its security team to work for hand in hand with Police which in turn messed up the event.
The chaotic and dramatic event began when FDC enforcement team grew suspicious of whom they thought was not an FDC member after failing to answer basic questions asked.
As the team tried to push him out of the event premises, they noted that he was a Police officer on duty wearing ordinary clothes.
The FDC Party Secretary for Security, Sadic Amiir says Police Officers on grounds helped this FDC member to access the event venue which according to them was an intended plan to disrupt their celebrations.
“Now if such people did criminal or unacceptable things, it could be blamed on the party,” Amiir said.

Commenting on the matter, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire denied the accusation that indicates that Police had evil plans towards FDC party anniversary.
He says Police work is to provide security, not anything else.
“Why would the Police be sabotaging their function? We are there to provide security and that’s all,” Owoyesigyire said.

In the same way, after the bitter exchange between Police and FDC enforcement team who claimed to be in charge of security at the venue of the event and checkpoint, Police dragged them away saying they are interrupting their security work.
“This is a security tent; you should not bring your politics here. Let us do our job.” Said one of the female police officers as she requested her juniors to push the FDC security team away from the checkpoint,” one of the Police officers on duty said.
