Abraham James Byandala is a Ugandan engineer, politician and the former Minister for Works and Transport in the Ugandan Cabinet appointed to the position on 27 May 2011 replacing John Nasasira who got appointed as the Government Chief Whip.
Byandala is the former Katikamu County North legislator, Luweero District.
Early Life and Education
Abraham Byandala was born in January 1950 in Luweero District.
He attended Makerere University, the oldest and largest university in Uganda, from where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSc.Civ.Eng) Degree.
Then Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSc.Civ.Eng) from Strathclyde University, Glasgow Scotland.
Work and Experience
Abraham James Byandala served as the Kampala City Engineer and Surveyor, chairperson government’s committee on physical infrastructure.
Thereafter, he got appointed as Minister of Transport and Works.
Abraham James Byandala alongside other officials was accused of corruption that caused the government a financial loss of 24.7 billion shillings meant to upgrade the 72km Mukono-Katosi Nyenga road from gravel to bitumen, between 2013 & 2014.
However, Byandala was acquitted by the Anti-Corruption High Court judge Lawrence Gidudu in 2018.
