Adu Rando is an international business leader and sales consultant from Brazil with over 20 years of experience in the brewing industry.
Rando is the current Managing Director of Nile Breweries Uganda, a subsidiary of AB InBev, the world’s largest brewery.
He has held a variety of positions in Brazil, China, and Tanzania, and has a proven track record of success in driving growth and innovation.
Early Life and Education
Adu Rando was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1975.
He comes from a close-knit family. His father is a retired engineer and his mother is a stay-at-home mom. He has two siblings.
Adu Rando is married to a doctor and they have two children.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the California Baptist University (1997-2001), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from USP – University of São Paulo, Brazil (2006-2007) and a Corporate Management MBA (2013-2014).
Rando is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
Career and Professional Work Experience
After graduating, Rando worked for a number of different companies in Brazil, including Coca-Cola and Unilever.
In 2002, he joined AB-InBev, where he held a variety of positions in sales, marketing, and operations.
Rando began his career in the beer industry in 2003 as a Sales Supervisor at Brahma Brewery in Brazil. He held a variety of sales and marketing positions at Brahma Brewery before being promoted to Sales Manager in 2007.
He held a variety of sales and marketing positions including Distributor Manager, Key Account National Director, BU Head of Soft Drinks, and State Sales Director in many different Cities in Brazil.
He then took on the role of B2B Digital Sales platform project leader for China in 2016 after transferring to China under AB-InBev in 2010.
In 2018, Rando was promoted to Route to Market China division head. In this role, he was responsible for leading the development and implementation of AB-InBev’s route-to-market strategy in China.
In 2020-2021, Rando was appointed as Route to Market Director Greater Africa, AB-InBev, based in Dar es Salaam Tanzania. In this role, he was responsible for leading the route-to-market strategy for AB InBev’s operations in East Africa.
Rando was appointed as the new Managing Director of Nile Breweries Limited Uganda in February 2023. NBL Uganda is one of the largest breweries in Africa, with a market share of over 70%.
He replaced Mr David Valencia who has been at the company’s helm since 2020. Valencia was instead appointed Commercial Strategy Director, Africa Zone for AB-InBev.
Achievements and Awards
Adu Rando is a highly accomplished business leader with a strong track record of success. He is known for his ability to drive growth and innovation, and he is passionate about making a positive impact on the world.
For AB-InBev in China, Rando was in charge of creating and implementing a new route-to-market strategy. He was able to increase the utilisation of AB InBev’s digital sales app from 1.5 thousand users in 2016 to more than 250 thousand in 2019.
The route-to-market plan for AB InBev’s operations in East Africa was also under Rando’s direction.
He designed and implemented a comprehensive Route To Market reform project in six Greater Africa countries (Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia, Ghana, and Botswana). The new approach raised AB InBev’s sales in East Africa by 10% in the first year.
Rando oversaw the development of the global sales app platform BEES, which connects merchants and shops with ABI and its official distributor network, significantly increasing service and customer care. With over 100,000 downloads, the software has been a great achievement.
