Early life and Education
Beatrice Akello Akori hails from Agago District and she is a Catholic by faith.
At Lira Palwo Christ Church in Agago District, Mr Kenneth Orik and Hon Beatrice Akello Akori were wed in holy matrimony on 14th May 2022.
Career and Professional Work Experience
Beatrice Akori emerged victorious after garnering 31,450 votes above four other candidates in the 2021 General elections while contesting on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
She replaced Judith Franca Akello, a candidate for FDC who garnered 26,564 votes.
Prior to this, she served as Resident District Commissioner for several districts around the nation under President Museveni’s nomination for more than ten years. Pakwach, Kamwenge, and Moyo are a few of the districts she has represented.
Akori also served as the APAC District’s Resident District Commissioner. She served as the APAC District task force chair for COVID-19 in 2020.
She held these positions before becoming actively involved in politics. She felt that this offered her the opportunity to thoroughly observe local governance, which helped to prepare her for a future in politics.
On 21 July 2022, Beatrice Akori was appointed the Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the President’s office by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in a mini Cabinet reshuffle.
This was around the same time that Norbert Mao was also appointed Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
She replaced Peter Ogwang who was appointed State Minister for Education and Sports. Beatrice was sworn in on 27th July 2022 along with other appointed ministers in the 11th Parliament.
Achievements and Awards

HE President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni praised Alori for being one of the most hardworking RDCs who successfully managed her district on which grounds she was appointed as the State Minister for Economic Monitoring.
She worked for the Alliance for Integrated Rural Development Information and Resource Centre (AIRDIRC) in Kamuli District, Uganda. She dedicated her life to addressing the challenges that women face.
Her thesis report at Uganda Christian University in 2012 was about “Factors Influencing Women’s Choices and Access to Place of Delivery”.

Controversies
Beatrice Akori ordered an investigation into the claims of unchecked extortion made by medical professionals at the Masaka Regional Referral Hospital by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and Internal Security Organization-ISO in November 2022.
After visiting the hospital and hearing complaints of extortion from Obadiah Musimenta, the Masaka City Internal Security Officer, she issued the order.
James Elima, the hospital’s director, was blamed by Musimenta for willfully failing to stop the extortion of medical personnel who were directly under his immediate supervision.
Dr James Elima, was not there to address the accusations. However, the Head of the Gynaecology department, Dr Gozanga Ssenyodo, said that the alleged extortionists might be imposters who sneak into the hospital and pose as medical personnel.
He added that they had previously dealt with such accusations from patients and that the hospital had established a toll-free number for the public to report any kind of exploitation in the facility.
