Music Career

Carol Nantongo, who grew up with her parents in Namugongo, started singing as a young child and was able to join the church choir there.
She had initially been encouraged to participate in Rated Next competitions by her friends who saw potential in her. She tried it at the auditions, but she lacked the confidence, thus she was chased. In her defence, she was only uninterested in music at the time.
The second time she went with her pals to the De New Eagles tryouts, she had no intention of signing up. Her companion then drove her to Gold Production, where manager Kavuma gave her the chance after Catherine Kusasira noticed her talent.
She had gone to the Bat Valley Theatre with one of her friends, who had introduced her to Mesach Semakula. She joined the Golden Band after being welcomed by Mesach Semakula, who later helped her progress her career by having her 2016 hit track, “Ontuka ft. Dr. Hilderman,” become a success.

Controversies

Ugandan celebrities, particularly musicians, have one thing in common: they are harsh on anyone who dares to criticize them. Winnie Nwagi has a track record in this area, as has Ykee Benda, but there is one person we did not expect to see on board: Carol Nantongo.
When one of her followers commented on her weight after she posted a picture of herself, the former Golden Band singer lost it. Carol Nantongo had harsh words for the fan who referred to her as fat.
Tonny Micheal Ssekyanzi questioned Carol’s decision to dump her portable size in his comment: “But what happened to you Carol?” If I recall correctly, you were portable and beautiful in 2015, during the time of your Nsika video, but these days…”
In response, the artist told Tonny that what matters is that she looks healthy because she eats and sleeps well. She also advised him to stop insulting people and focus on how he could build his life.
Carol Nantongo, a former Golden Production singer, had a bad weekend after visiting South Africa to celebrate her birthday and perform at an event. The “Oliwa” singer incurred the wrath of Ugandans in South Africa when an event promoter whisked her off stage midway through her performance.
The incident enraged the audience, who claimed Carol Nantongo arrived late for the performance and was rushed off stage after only three songs. The raucous immediately erupted, leaving many fuming and cursing as the event promoter chastised Nantongo for not fully respecting her fans who had graced the occasion.
However, her manager, Michael Judas, explained that they arrived very late at the South African airport around 3:00 a.m. and did not catch enough sleep.
Carol Nantongo left the Golden Band, where she began her career, in 2020. Carol Nantogo stated in a recent interview that her departure from the Golden band was forced by group politics.
“First and foremost, I left because the group was tainted by politics.” This eventually led to an unhealthy working environment,” Nantongo told Galaxy FM’s Mr. Henrie.
